EveryDay Passions – Interview with Peter Beckenham
Peter speaks passionately about his love and mission for the remote Thai Village in which he lives, with about 450 other people.
One of his missions in life, which he has been doing for over 10 years, is to educate the children in the village. This has led him to create a Legacy, so that it can sustain itself, even when he’s no longer able to do it directly.
What Drives You?
From a business perspective, Peter explained that it’s all about helping the children in the village. From a personal point of view, he shared that he has always enjoyed helping others and believes he adopted this attitude from his mother. You will hear more about his mother’s influence on him as you listen to our conversation.
The P’s in His Business
Do you have a recurring letter in your business? Peter does, and he shared them with us.
Being positive, helping people become productive, helping people become professional, and philanthropic. He’s drawn to people who are philanthropic because he’s the same.
He wants people to be performers and participants; not to sit around and do nothing. He admits that he does not have a great amount of patience with people who will not take action, so they achieve results. If he gives from his heart, everything to them to get them going, and they just sit on it and do nothing with it, he finds that frustrating.
A few other P’s are persistence and being professional, and when you combine all those things together, then the natural outcome is that you become profitable.
By implementing the foregoing, Peter emphasized that you don't have to push people, persuade people, convince people to buy anything. Just be personable. Just create something for them that they think wow, “I am so pleased I met Yvonne. I wish I had met her 10 years. ago.”
Before Online Marketing
Peter was a schoolteacher for “16 wonderful years,” and loved it. In our conversation, he explains what changed and how that affected the paths he’d later take.
Listen to what he did next and how this would eventually lead to where he is now:
Final Words from Peter
In one sentence, be proud to be personal. Don't walk away from the opportunity to share the real you with everybody, both in business and in life. Otherwise, you're going to miss so many magical moments.
